How much does owning a yacht cost?
It varies massively from yacht to yacht. But generally A 180′ ft yacht costs about £3.2 million annually to maintain and run. Among the costs, you need to budget around £300,000 for fuel, £250k for dockage, £170k for vessel insurance, £700k for maintenance and repairs, and almost £1m for crew salaries. With our yacht syndication program you can own yacht shares for as little as £175k. Annual maintenance costs vary per location. Our yacht share network, or yacht co-ownership model, is therefore a practical alternative to sole yacht ownership.
Is a yacht a good investment?
Yacht ownership can be an investment in your mental and physical well-being. There are few things more relaxing than enjoying the stress free times out on the open waters aboard your own crewed yacht. That said, yacht ownership may not always be the best financial investment. Do I need a license?
In short yes - yacht ownership requires a license. MIY can help with all of this, we can provide refresher training or a full ICC qualification for our yacht share network clients. MIY has a full team of crew available in all locations so that we can pilot the yacht if you simply wish to lay back and enjoy the view - and take full advantage of your MIY Yacht co-ownership experience.
